Trials of the First Day

Lissa stretched in her bed, her Blenheim and white cocker spaniel, Dolly next to her on her bed. Lissa sat up, picking up the 5 year old dog, and snuggling her for a moment, she set her on the floor. Throwing back the covers, she got up. Looking over at her Hyacinth macaw, Chelsea. "Good morning" she said to her bird, pouring some food into her food bowl, and giving her fresh water before heading to the kitchen of the dorm, Dolly following. She got Dolly's food for her and put it in her bowl, before she made her own food.

She ate quickly and got dressed in a thin yellow dress, before heading to the courtyard an the way to school, leaving Dolly sleeping on the couch.

The dorm’s door produced a small clicking sound as Olivia unlocked it, propping it open slightly so that Ah-Gyul could enter. “I’m going to change into more comfortable shoes,” She informed him kicking off her flats –which were beginning to dig into her heels- as she headed into her bedroom a slight bounce to her step. Due to her delayed flight Olivia had no time to unpack leaving her suitcase sitting at the foot of her bed, a small fuzzy bear adorned with little wire glasses and spiffy dark blue jacket sitting on top of the larger of two suitcases. Opening the smaller suitcase she pulled out a pair of sneakers sitting on the floor in order to pull them on. While tieing the laces she glanced up at Ah-Gyul and asked “Anywhere in particular you want to go first?”

Ah-Gyul followed behind Olivia comfortably. He remained by the open door for a moment before striding in the room after her. He glanced around the room, noticing the room's tidy, un-lived-in look and the suitcases yet unpacked. To his surprise, he was soon staring face-to-face with the stuffed bear from the claw machine, the infernal claw machine. He grimaced, remembering the cheating machine and how he'd been prepared to pay for destroying it if the game messed with him one more time....
A small smile did appear as he picked up the bear in one hand and commented: "You kept it."
His expression widened into a nearly arrogant grin as he immediately thought to answer Olivia's question. "I seem to remember something of a challenge, from earlier?"

“Of course I kept him! He was like a nine dollar bear, besides it reminds me of your epic victory over the machine I thought you were going break it in half if you could.” Olivia’s laughter filled the air amused with the memory of his frustration trying to overcome deceiving claw machine. Getting to her feet she took the bear from Ah-Gyul setting him gently on her pillow. Unknown to anyone was the fact that she had recently been cuddling the bear at night, finding its soft fur soothing.

Pulling her hair up into the loose pony tail a cunning smirk appeared on Olivia’s lips as Ah-Gyul mentioned the word challenge. “I do recall passing by a shopping mall. I’m sure they have an arcade in there somewhere, and I won’t go easy on you this time.”

Lissa hurried to her dorm room, meeting Isi outside and going in. Dolly greeted her and she heard a loud squawk from her room. "Hello, Dolly." she said to her dog. She saw a pretty girl and the boy from school in the room already. "I'm sorry." she said, "I hope I'm not interrupting." she was worried that they wouldn't want her around.

"Challenge accepted. The mall then?" Ah-Gyul smirked right back at the girl, enjoying her competitive spark. His glance sliding back to the bear for a second, Ah-Gyul thought about how he had never expected an, well, an acquaintance to keep a toy like that, even if he had actually put effort into getting it. He wouldn't have blamed Olivia if she hadn't, and he might not even have remembered the bear had he not seen it again....
Ah-Gyul turned and bowed slightly at the classmate who surprised him by apologizing, and he raised a brow at the different animal noises. He didn't expect it but the interruption wasn't unwelcome. He offered a short, warm smile before shaking his head. "Not at all. We were just going anyway."

As he and Olivia made their way to the arcade, Ah-Gyul mentioned half-amusedly, half in seriousness. "I was going to break it, if I had to."

Isi said, "So how was your first day of classes, Lissa?" She knelt down and snuggled Lissa's cocker spaniel. "Hi Dolly," she said, as the dog licked her cheek gently, wagging her long plume of a tail. "I'm bored Lissa. Wonder if there's anything to do here?" Isi stood up and walked over to the couch and sat, leaning back

Lissa looked over at her sister. "Ok I guess. Some girl made a big deal of getting hit by a beach ball. I have NO idea how that even hurt her. It was a cute guy that tossed it too." She grinned. So where have you been all day?" It's storming right now so I think we're stuck here."

Lissa said "Isi..It's getting late. It's time for bed." she grabbed a blanket and led Isi to the couch making her lay down and cover up. "Night" she said going to her room and crawling into bed.
she was asleep in minutes.

Isi woke up on the couch in her sister's dorm. sitting up, she looked around at the room. She got up and patted her sister's dog, dressed in a light yellow shirt and denim shorts. she brushed her long blue hair, ate breakfast and grabbed her school stuff. She planned to visit the beach before going to class, and that was her reason for waking up early.

Waking up, Lissa climbed out of her bed. She went to the main rooms of the dorm and noticed the dirty dishes in the sink. "Isi must have gotten up already." she said, pouring a bowl of cereal and eating it slowly, enjoying the morning, with Dolly sitting at her feet.

Olivia did a little victory bounce in her seat, draping her legs over the side to face Ah-Gyul as he sort of congratulated her on her win….pointed it out more or less. She didn’t need any time to think over what her reward would be, but seeing as Ah-Gyul had more pressing matters to attend to back at his dorm she would hold off until a more appropriate time presented itself. Heading into the Mall earlier that day she could have sworn the sun was shining brightly, now it looked as though an angry rain cloud had swallowed the entire island. Thunder booming, sky lighting up periodically, and rain coming down by the bucketful Olivia and Ah-Gyul had no chance at making it back to their rooms with even an inch of dry clothing. Halfway through her sprint back she gave up on her failed attempts to stay dry.Content with laughing amused with Ah-Gyul’s state his wet clothing sticking to him mercilessly.

Parting ways Olivia retreated to her room not missing the presence of a young girl sleeping on the couch. She must have been related to her roommate, the bluish tint to her hair being a dead giveaway. Quietly –not to wake anyone up- Olivia changed into dry clothes taking her time to properly put away her belongings. Soon enough she was feeling more at home snuggling her teddy in bed….slowly but surely drifting off to sleep.

Morning tempted the groggy Aussie student out of bed. Retreating into the kitchen still in her pajama shorts, tank top, and socks –one polka dotted the other stripped- Olivia stretched out greeting her roommate who was enjoying a a bowl of cereal. “Good Morning Lissa.” Luckily she was good with name and remembered her from Mr. Bradley’s introduction game. “Is there by any chance any caffeine stocked in the pantry?”

"Hi, Olivia." she said softly. "I do think there is something in the cupboard." she smiled at her roommate. "How was your night? Did you get trapped in the storm on the way back?" She looked down at Dolly, beside her, a little shyly. Smiling at the dog she bent down and picked her up, cuddling her.

“My night was fun, although I did get caught in the storm. It was worth it.” Olivia responded her voice muffled as she buried her head into the cupboard as fishing out her morning savior. Brewing herself up a cup she leaned against the counter tilting her head getting a glimpse of the now empty couch. “Was that your sister that was stranded here last night?” She asked, finding it hard to believe the two weren’t related due to their blue vibrant hair. Unless that was the trend on the island, oddly bright colored hair which wouldn’t surprise her, in their class alone there was a rainbow of colorful hair.

After a small friendly morning conversation with her roommate, Olivia took her a cup of coffee heading back to her room to prepare of classes. From the looks of it the day –the warm sun trickled through the curtains- the day was going to be pleasant. However after yesterday’s weather snuck up on her Olivia wasn’t taking any chances. Tying a sweatshirt around her waist –just in case- Olivia headed out to class in jeans and a light blue sleeveless top that wrap around the back of her neck.
