Sun, sand, and surf… Rai Island was already turning out to be a much better location to attend school compared to that dreary Washington, that seemed to be in a constant state of freezing rain. After the unexpected termination of its International Program –their way of making budget cuts- Olivia had flown back home to spend some much needed bonding time with her mother...bonding? Actually, her worries over her mom’s recent relapse was suffocating the poor Aussie woman. Spending the majority of the next week and a half running around the house like a mother hen. Having her daughter fluttering around her tending to her every need drove her to put her child back on a plane, insisting that she give the exchange program another shot. Leaving her with a few encouraging words, ” You never know what surprises may await you.”
The first surprise wasn’t as pleasant as Olivia had hoped for, setting her back an entire day. Her flight delay had brought her into Rai Island a few hours before her first class would begin. Luckily Olivia had used her the time she hadn’t been sleeping –during the flight- to flip through her student handbook and go over her schedule committing it to memory. Arriving on campus with only a few moments to drop her belongings off in her dorm, Olivia headed out hoping to make it to class on time. Somehow she always found herself in this predicament…racing to beat to bell.
