Midnight Ghost Hunt

Rai Island seemed so serene and relaxed at night – lovely for taking long strolls. You could ponder about the depths of life if you wanted to while wandering around the island, and anywhere you ended up, you would still receive the vibes of tranquility and peace. Lorilynn was willing to bet money on that, however, she did change her mind once they reached Valevay’s front doors. Nothing about the school seemed to evoke the words "tranquil" or "peace" in her mind. The phrases "waste of time" and "why do I put up with this" did echo through her mind though.

Placing her hands on her hips, the ivory haired seen sighed outwardly. “So,” she began. “We’re here. Can we go home now?” Honestly, she couldn’t fathom just why she had let Lena get the best of her. This was absolutely ridiculous! All they were going to do was walk up and down a few empty corridors and then call it a night. 

Still, she’d given her word so she’d have to keep it. It would be wrong not to. Besides, Lena would never let her forget about her “cowardice” if she decided to back down. Huh, and there she went, letting that redheaded fox get to her yet again. Tapping her feet for a moment, Lorilynn’s mind drifted off to other, more important thoughts before a sudden realization hit her.

“Hey, where’s Becky?”

It wasn’t like her to flake out on an event such as this. Maybe she was running late? Where ever she was, she had better bring her butt here this instant! Becky was roped into this too, and Lorilynn didn’t care if she had to go to her home just to haul her by her ankles to the school, Becky was attending this… this… "searching of the spirits", as Emma’s book so quaintly put it.

The night was perfect for sneaking around. The cloud cover draped the school grounds in a nice shadowy almost eerie presence, making it perfect for them to creep about unnoticed. Nonetheless the visually un-amused Lorilynn was going to blow their cover if she didn't keep her voice down!  Slinking up next to her fair haired friend Lena draped her arm over the girl’s slender shoulders, “Come on don’t tell me your chickening out already!” The redhead lightheartedly teased, her voice a low whisper, though the playfully words still carried further than she could control.  “Come on we are already here! We might as well go in!” With that Lena playfully bumped her hips against Lori’s sending her friend suddenly into the securely locked school doors.

A sliver of moonlight escaped the clouds spotlighting the small timid brunette that brought up the rear of the group. Stopping at the large metal front doors of Valevay High, Emma adjusted her frames immediately regretting wearing them instead of her contacts. She’d be in quite the predicament if they were to fall off leaving her completely blind to what was happening around her. 
 
Joining her friends near the door Emma leaned against the cold brick wall keeping her eyes peeled for the fourth member of the midnight excursion as well as for any of Valevay’s security guard on their nightly patrols. This had to be near the top of the list of stupid things Emma allowed the rash redhead to talk her into doing, but there was no way she’d  ever allow her reckless friend to dash off into this mess alone. Needless to say, if they were caught out here they’d be in deep . . .  deep trouble!
 

Emma wasn’t the only one that took notice upon Rebecca’s absence, Lorilynn’s comment prompting the girls to glance around the campus in hopes that they’d catch sight for the last of their group. Alas, there was nothing to been seen in the shadowy perimeter of the courtyard! “Don’t worry! I’m sure she will be here soon. After all if I remember correctly she doesn’t live on campus, so she probably has a long walk here.” Emma assured the others while scooting a bit closer towards them, the nightly sounds were beginning to make her a bit nervous.
