Lorilynn Schwann Thu Jun 28, 2012 1:29 am
"I'm going to schooooooool, I'm goooooing to schoooooool!" Lorilynn sang as she skipped downstairs to have breakfast with her family. She was so excited from the previous night that she could hardly sleep and she didn't feel even the slightest bit sleepy. She made sure she didn't waste any time showering longer than she needed to or taking forever to do her hair. From this day forward, time was precious and she needed to get to school on time today. "Goooooood mooooorning family!" She sang cheerily as she entered the dining room.
"Oh God, shut up. Your voice is making my ears bleed." Roselyn grumbled. Roselyn was Lorilynn's younger sister. The two got into constant disputes, and sometimes, they'd fight for no apparent reason.
"You know, I'd say something to you, but today's the best day of my life, so I'm not going to let you ruin it." Lorilynn gave her a sickeningly sweet smile before sitting down to enjoy breakfast. "Today's the day I don't have to see your excuse of a face anymore." She sipped her tea.
"Excuse me!" Roselyn hissed.
"Girls!" Landon scolded. "It's too early in the morning for this, you know that. So now lets all enjoy a nice, healthy breakfast."
"She started it, Daddy." Roselyn pouted.
"Me? You're the one who insulted me first!" Lorilynn shot back.
"Well, maybe I wouldn't if you didn't give me things to insult you about!" Soon again, the girls were arguing, and Landon tried hopelessly to get them to stop.
"Oh my! Everyone's in such a delightful mood this morning." Remy sighed happily. "I love family breakfasts."
--------
"It's pretty chilly..." Roselyn sniffled.
"What do you expect, we're at the docks in September. That's why you bring a jacket." Lorilynn muttered, packing her luggage on the boat. Roselyn only huffed. After the last of Lorilynn's luggage was boarded onto the boat, she turned to her family and smiled at them. "Well, I guess this is-" she started, but was cut of by Remy's sudden sloppy hug and blubbering.
"L-L-Loooooriiiiii~!" She cried. "Don't go! I'll miss you!" Lorilynn wasn't sure how to react to her mother's sudden outburst. She stood there for a while, overtaken by shock. She smiled a bit and returned the hug.
"Oh Mother, I'll come back to visit on holidays or when school lets out." Remy's crying ended quickly and she pulled away, looking at her daughter confused.
"Sc-school? I...I thought you were going living on your own..." Lorilynn's face twisted.
"Wha-!? And just where would I go?" Lorilynn cried. Remy shrugged.
"Beats me. Well, have fun in school! Remember to shine! I love you!" After receiving hugs from her father and a stare off from her younger sister, she boarded the boat. She watched her family stand and wave as the boat started to head to Rai Island.
"Oh boy, when does normal school end? 2:30? I can't wait until she gets back to tell me all about her first day." Remy smiled.
"Mother, it's a boarding school. She'll be there for a while." Roselyn said flatly.
"Wait, you mean she isn't coming back?" Remy asked. Panic filled her voice.
"Nope."
"LORI!" Remy cried after the boat, running along the dock. "LORI! COME BACK! DON'T GO!" Roselyn and Landon bolted after her, making sure she didn't do anything stupid.
Lorilynn could hear the faint sound of her mother's voice. Curious, she turned to look at the docks and saw what looked like her mother motioning for her to come back. "Oh dear Lord... Is she insane!?"
--------
Lorilynn felt she was in heaven. She'd never seen anything like this in her entire life! Rai Island was so beautiful! The flowers were vibrant, the trees were tall, and it got even better when she got on campus. Lorilynn never saw so many people bustling about. There were so many people to talk to and look at, but after being caught staring, things got awkward and she went to go find her dorm room.
"I feel cramped." Lorilynn frowned. She wasn't used to any room being so small. After all, she did live in a large house her whole life. She shrugged it off. If this was how people lived outside of her house, then she was going to have to suck it up and rough it out. The dorm did leave a little warm cozy feeling in her chest, though. Lorilynn smiled and went to unpack her things into her room. She paused, noticing two doors. "I have a roommate!" She cried. That had to be it. Why else would there be two doors right next to one another. As she unpacked her things in her room, she couldn't help but wonder what her roommate would be like.
