The Movie Theater

Riza shuddered lightly as her eyes flicked over the prices of the popcorn and other refreshments. It never ceased to amaze her that people could want to pay that much when they're already paying so much to see the movie in the first place. However, she had to make sure that neither of her companions wanted snacks of their own, letting them know that she would happily find seats for the trio if they did. After all, movies are only good when you have a good seat. The grin plastered on her face only widened as she looked to Zelda and Erek for their replies.

Zelda could only give a small scoff at Riza’s question. It was a playful scoff, but a scoff none the less. Placing her right hand on her hip she waved her small friend off with the other. Was buying snacks even an option? “Girl please! Who has money to buy snacks? Not I said the fly!” With that being said, the petite brunette shouldered off her backpack and held it in front of her. Her hand had reached for the zipper, but before she could open it, she gave a pause. Zelda looked to her right; there were a few other patrons but no one she needed to look out for. She then casted her gaze to the left of her; it was a little more crowded, but management was nowhere in sight.

Giving a victorious grin, she didn’t hesitate to open her bag. The smell of freshly buttered popcorn wafted through the air. Other snacks and candies threatened to spill out of her bag. Zelda gave a satisfied giggle of sorts before zipping up her bag before throwing it over her shoulder. “And my water bottle’s filled with the food court’s slushie. I’m amazing aren’t I?” She cackled. Zelda knew fully well that outside food was prohibited in the theatre, but that rule was stupid, so she wasn’t going to abide by it.

Besides, this wasn’t her first time smuggling food in the theatre and it certainly wouldn’t be her last.

Riza had to agree, Zelda was pretty amazing. To fit such a variety of snacks into one little bag and have no fear of spilling any of it was quite a talent. If the apocalypse were to happen right now, this girl would definitely be the one to have on your team. Sadly, the brunette did not think she herself would survive the struggle. She could imagine her dramatic death scene now:

"Go! You must go without me!"

Zelda, horrified, would drop down beside Riza's broken body, "No, we can't leave you, we're a team!"

Erek would be in the background, appearing to maintain a strong front but dabbing at his eyes surreptitiously, his hair swept up in a glorious, no-nonsense ponytail and war paint high on his cheeks. He would look off into the distance, then stiffen, before quickly approaching Zelda and laying a hand on her shoulder, "We have to go now if we're to have any chance of making it out alive!"

Riza would cup Zelda's cheek with a weak hand, "You have each other, you'll make it through this. I... believe in you." And then, she would be no more.

Zelda would howl in rage and scream, "I will avenge you!" She would take off, machine guns that previously hung off her back now in arms, and run with Erek in tow, sending profanities and bullets at the enemy as they made their retreat.

The pair would eventually be victorious, get married, and have a child they name after Riza.

Riza let out a giggle of her own that might not have been completely sane by some standards, before remembering that yeah, people who paid for snacks in a movie theater were making a mistake. Erek could probably afford it but she doubted he wanted anything here, a though that was confirmed as the man smiled indulgently at Zelda and expressed his own admiration of her ingenuity. Riza was ready for some action-packed fun that she was almost positive would be ten times better than the concoction that just ran through her head.

Feigning shyness one again, Zelda placed a hand to her cheek. The other one hand seemed to be fanning away the compliments. “Oh, stop it! It was nothing really.” Zelda had to admit, though. Being complimented by someone as pretty as Erek, no matter what the compliment was, was a pretty big ego boost – not that her ego needed anymore boosting.

Grabbing a hold of Riza and Erek’s hands, she led them to their assigned theatre. It was dark and the cool temperature gave Zelda a feeling of relief. Thank the heavens it wasn’t going to be as hot as the devil’s ass crack in here. The movie hadn’t started yet since the previews were still on, so that was a plus.

It looks like they had gotten here a little earlier. There were still a good amount of unoccupied seats so that meant they could all sit together. Looking around for the best spot, Zelda finally found one that was some ways away from the lovely couple that seemed so into each other and as far away from some high school children (How’d they get in anyway?) as they could get.

Plopping down in her seat, the small brunette began to open her bag, handing out the snacks that she was so eager to eat. “So,” Zelda began, “just what were you giggling about earlier anyway, Riza?”
