Kyren Ari Stills

Hello there my fellow Roleplayers!
Sorry for the delay but "Mr. Rodeo" had too much personality for just one month! Anyways lets kick him to the curb now and welcome our newest and most anticipated character, Mr. Moody himself,

Kyren Stills

From the words of our lovely Sui, "Like a true Cancer, he is moody and reserved!"

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

True this young man is rather rough around the edges. Far from your "friendly" average highschooler. Secluding himself majority of the time Kyren immerses his attention and talent into his sketchbook. However his stoic aura is shaken only when his adorkable little sister, Emma is in his presence! If your lucky (very very very lucky) when she shows up you may even see him crack a smile. And who knows he may even have a smile that makes girl's swoon! But it's usually gone just a quickly as it appeared.

Okay, lets just get it out of the way and say this boy has an undeniable sister complex! Unwavering in fact! After loosing their father at a young age Kyren promised to protect her in his Dads place. He spends the majority of his time making sure Emma is happy and healthy! Also for her own good he battles to keep the Samo strays far away from her. Now Kyren isn't ALWAYS, as his creator may claim, a Drama King! He can be very compassionate and more than willing to treat you as family if he finds you trustworthy and you become close enough with him.

So, some advice when crossing paths with this eyeliner wearing teen. Keep your loud antic to yourself they certainly don't impress him (just ask Lena)! Keep sugar out of his reach, it makes his do very very bad things! ;) && Don't and I mean DON'T touch his sister!
Follow these simple rules, and you might survive!

Now off to the Interview! This one should be a HOOT!

Okay, so we know that over the past several months there has been very little activity in the roleplay! But really that wasn't the intial point in creating this forum in the first place.
Rai Island is what brought us all together. It's our home away from home, so to speak! We are not just a Forum full of gifted and creative writers . . . however a place full of wacky and crazy friends ;)
A place where we are creating unforgettable memories!

Even though we are constantly changing and still knee deep in finding ourselves in the world; we know that through the tears that fall and the smiles that grace our faces we will always have each other! Because no matter where our lives take us, nothing will change so much that we are not all friends still!

&& We will always have RaiIsland to come back to! Our Island ♥
Okay, okay enough of the cheesiness!
I love you CRAZY ladies!

    This is an AU of a different first meeting between John and Celi, back when they were both 16yo and Celi had just moved to Rai Island.

    ~~~~~~~~~
    It was a beautiful day out, the sun was shining, the birds were singing, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and the passengers of the S.S. Turn Over, the only ferry to the infamous Rai Island, were merrily mingling about with each other as they passed the time until they docked at their destination.
    It was obvious that today couldn't have been a more perfect day to happily sail off to a new home and a new adventure on Rai Island!
    And yet, all a 16 year old Cecilia Shiel could do was nervously tap her foot against the deck of the ship as she leaned over the rail, her violet eyes not really registering the breathtaking sight of her new island home before her as her mind raced a mile a minute.
    It had been a struggle, to say the least, to get them on that boat and on their way to Rai Island. Her parents, or rather her mother, was completely against the idea. Hated it in fact if Celi were being completely honest, and no doubt her mother used every trick in the book and then some to try and keep both her and her sister locked up wherever in the world they happened to be settle down so they couldn't get away from her. Her father, on the other hand, couldn't have cared less what happened to them so long as they didn't cost him his time or money.
    But it took 4 years, 4 long years of Celi calling in every lawyer that wasn't in her parents back pocket, every child care system or government worker, anyone and anything she could think of to try to set them both free. 4 long years of nothing but hard work on top of her expected "exemplary" studies and extracurriculars, and finally, finally, she had done it!
    As of 1 week, 3 days, and 34 minutes ago, Celi was now officially emancipated from their parents, and her little sister was now legally her ward.
    Of course, Celi didn't do it all by herself and would be forever grateful to the lawyers who stuck by her and her sister's case for so long. It was no easy feat getting enough backing and evidence to prove to a court that she should be allowed to emancipate from her high class and well known parents due to mental and child abuse, and child neglect. And on top of that, also have her younger sister legally come under her care for the same reasons, all while she had only just turned 16 years old.
    Honestly, there were times when she worried all her hard work would have been all for not.
    But now, now she had nothing to worry about. She and Mimi were finally free, they had a new home waiting for them, new schools where they could make friends, and she'd finally be able to pursue her dream job as a fashion designer while supporting Mimi with whatever she wanted to do.
    Life was turning around for her and she should be nothing but smiles and rainbows right now, she knew this, she really did, but Celi just couldn't get over her anxiousness. She'd been running a nonstop, high speed, high stakes rat race since she was 12! She's had to go over more legal documents, statements, clarifications, clauses, and signatures than she could shake a pen at well BEFORE her not so sweet 16 and now it was just...over.
    Nothing more to sign, no more lawyers to talk to, no more of their parents ever again.
    She honestly didn't know what to do with herself now.
    Her sister had told her earlier that she was wound too tight from it all and should just relax, and yea, she probably was and probably should. But could you blame her? She knew she still had things to do! Teachers to talk to, housing papers to go over, just plain moving in general to deal with, and then getting started on her work again so they'd have an income! She didn't have time to relax just yet!
    She couldn't relax just yet, not now anyway!
    But with the island only a few scant minutes away, Celi looked back at her sister, happily chatting away with the ferryman over who knows what and without a care in the world as they started pulling into the docks, and took a long deep breath.
    Everything was fine, she was fine. They were free and they could take it easy now, they had a whole new life ahead of them afterall.
    With one last deep breath, Celi allowed herself to finally relax a little and smile.
    "Everything will be fine, it's the start of a new life and it'll be great"
    The warm rays of the sun shined down on the sands of Tatawal Beach as the locals mingled with tourists and enjoyed a sunny Saturday. It was mid-afternoon and white fluffy clouds drifted lazily across the blue sky, unperturbed by the reasonably crowded beach that stretched all the way to the harbor. There were plenty of vendor stalls and equipment rental shacks lining the beach, all doing a solid business today.
    A slim trail of cigarette smoke escaped his nostrils as his icy blue eyes scanned the scenery. Well, it would have been serene if there weren't so many goddamn people here. John frowned a bit, but tried not to let it get to him. He was here with his family, enjoying a well-earned day off, so he was going to make the most of it. And god help anyone stupid enough to try to spoil their fun. Pushing his long brown curly out of his face, he glanced over his family members.
    His mother, unsurprisingly, had her hands full with little Joanna, who had recently learned to walk and tumble, and thus was racing around the area in a game of keep-away. Bobby, only a few years older, was sneaking extra snacks from the cooler and sharing them with his friends. Keith had let his mother braid his hair and was building something or another, but John had zero interest in whatever it was. Casey and Raph were pulling pranks on some kids their age, splashing about in the water.
    John took another drag on his cigarette and glanced to his left, where Fred was lounging on a beach chair, surrounded by his lackeys from school. They were seeing to his every need, which kind of pissed John off, but he decided to ignore it in favor of the ice-cold beer Terry was handing him. He cracked open the seal and gulped down the cool amber liquid, sighing in relief.
    Out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed Chuck and their dad chasing the twins around after getting ice down their backs. It was days like this when life wasn't so hard, and the Wilders could just relax and have fun.
    After a long while, Terry nudged him with an elbow and nodded towards the harbor. Eyes narrowed with an "I don't give a shit about that" expression, Terry motioned towards the full ferry again. John huffed and begrudgingly looked over.
    Was that... pink and dark pink hair?
    "What the actual f*ck?" Confusion pulled the words from his mouth before he even thought about it. Two beautiful girls, one his age and one younger - probably sisters, if he had to guess - were disembarking from the ferry... with luggage. So they were moving to the island, were they?
    This was going to be fun...
    As the ferry pulled into the dock and the passengers chatted away with each other, patiently in line for their chance to disembark, Celi took the time to glance around the harbor area. It was cute in all honesty, pleasantly alive but not overcrowded, and not nearly as overrun with cheesy tourist shops and attractions as she had originally thought it'd be. There were locals and tourists alike mingling with each other around the shops and open areas, and families enjoying their day out on the beach with their kids.
    Rai Island was well known for being a prominent tourist destination, as well as the home to the prestigious international Valevay High, but somehow despite all that, it still managed to keep it's quaint small-town vibe that no amount of tourism could seem to diminish. An amazing feat if there ever was one considering how cheap, pop up shops loved to swarm where the masses gathered. But if Celi were to compare it to anything, it reminded her of one of the many small Mediterranean towns she snuck away to when they lived in Europe. Beautiful to visit, safe to travel, but no one dared touch the tranquility of the culture and people around them.
    Of course, that was one of the many reasons why she had chosen Rai in the first place, Celi mentally thought to herself as she made her way off the boat and under a tree to wait for her sister to follow. She wanted a home for her and Mimi, somewhere safe but lively, where she and Mimi would be happy and able to make friends for once. Not a temporary house to live in and then leave like they had been doing for their whole lives, having to leave anyone they'd met behind with a sad "goodbye". But a genuine, cozy place that they could love and make their own for many years to come.
    Yes, that was the type of place Celi had been dreaming of for her and her sister for years, and couldn't wait to start making that happen now that she had calmed down and they had arrived with the last of their belongings literally crammed into their small roll-on suitcases. The rest of their belongings were probably already waiting for them in a truck at their new house.
    Now, if only they could get to the house to unpack...
    Her sister, her dear sweet lovable little sister Mimi, loved people and most of the time, people loved her back. She could make friends with the most interesting and estranged individuals, from your friendly neighborhood baker to the random quiet janitor in an office building, no matter who they were she'd never fail to give them a cheerful hello and offer them some candy from her seemingly endless supply.
    Yes, Mimi loved hanging out with people, so much so that even after disembarking from the ferry and waving goodbye to the ferryman, the deck hand, and the cat who had snuck on board, she was still saying goodbye to a group of people. Most locals, happily recommending her various shops and places to go once they were settled in and others tourists, inviting her to hang out with them as they go sightseeing around the island.
    Now, Celi loved her sister to bits, and was happy that she was such a people person despite her weird tendencies, but it had been almost 10 minutes now and she was getting rather bored waiting for her under a tree with nothing to do.
    Standing from his spot near his family, John stretched languidly and set his beer down. Might as well welcome these two fresh faces to their new island home, he thought, sauntering towards the tree one of the sisters was waiting under. Or at least, he'd definitely make an impression on the older sister. Her dark pink hair was long, wavy and looked thick, even from the distance he was closing. Her clothing was sleek and stylish, and looked like nothing he had ever seen, much less had been able to afford, but more than anything else that caught his attention...
    The expression on her pretty face was turning annoyed as her younger sister was chattering with seemingly everyone on the ferry, including a random cat. She looked like she was holding herself back from telling the younger girl to get a move on, as if they'd need to hurry up and get to their new house because they were on a tight schedule. If nothing else, he was absolutely certain he'd get some sort of reaction from her.
    Giving her one last look from head to toe, his attention landed squarely on her posterior. The way she was standing made it jut out slightly and gave him an idea. An awful, terrible, hilariously inappropriate idea that made his lips curl in sadistic glee. He knew, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that he absolutely should NOT do it.
    ...so of course he did it.
    Faster than the blink of an eye, John's hand snaked forward and smacked her rear.
    It happened before she could think, one minute she was standing under a tree, bored and getting increasingly annoyed as she waited for her sister to hurry up so they could go, and then the next, she was whipping her fist around to collide with the face of who ever dared touch her ass.
    Now mind you, Celi knew that one doesn't generally think when they were fueled with unbridled rage and extreme exhaustion, and as an unfortunate repeat victim of several sexual indignations and sleep-deprivation, she was quite filled with rage right now. So much so in fact that before she even took in who touched her or even why, she was already throwing her suitcase at the body of said person with a mighty battle cry. Fists, kicks, and manicured nails flying shortly after, aiming for any body part she could reach and possibly maim.
    Of course usually Celi wasn't a violent person, she was a thinker, a planner, a caregiver, and someone who got things done when they needed to be done. She thought things through, was cordial with people, and preferred to keep to herself. But this was not the "usual" Celi, this was a girl who was running on 2 hours of sleep, a f*ck ton of stress, and a single cup of crappy coffee she had gotten from a gas station before they got on the ferry.
    So this was not the "usual" dignified Celi, this was a Celi who was tired, angry, out for blood, and had no qualms whatsoever about pouncing on whoever dared make her day even worse so she could shake the ever loving daylights out of them. All while screaming whatever profanities she could think of at them and hope to god knows what that they just piss off and die so she could get her damn coffee already and get home.
    John had been expecting some sort of retaliation, particularly getting backhanded, but the fist connecting with his jaw was certainly a surprise. If the spitfire would've been taller, she might've broken his nose. As it was, his head jerked with the force of her punch and it actually made him take a step back. That was certainly something he'd never encountered before - a girl ready to wipe the floor with him. Well, color him impressed!
    "Not bad, sweethea-ugh!"
    What he wasn't expecting was the suitcase she hit him with, followed by an onslaught of blows that would spell disaster for a lesser guy. While John wasn't knocked to the ground, he wasn't exactly having an easy time trying to stop her from going full Tasmanian devil on him. The sound of Terry's laughter floated to his ear and annoyed him, the bastard. What kind of an older brother sat by and laughed his ass off while his closest brother was the victim of assault? Terry, that's who.
    Eventually, Terry took mercy on John and walked over to the raging girl, tapping her politely on the shoulder. "Please excuse my dumbass brother. He deserved it, but you undoubtedly have better things to do." He said quietly.
    Under normal circumstances, Celi would've happily taken the vicarious apology, probably would've told them off for poor etiquette too before hastily leaving, if only so she could get the hell out of the annoying situation faster.
    But Celi was in a mood, and this guy's "dumbass brother" was the cause and the retribution, and so the rosette was not having it right now!
    "I certainly do!" She pointedly told the much larger of the boys, not looking at him and not stopping her assault of punches towards said dumbass in the slightest, and if anything, increasing the pace as she glared at him for blocking her flurry. "But I'm pissed and your dumbass brother" Celi rammed a heel towards his shin. "Has made my mood much worse! And seeing how I don't have any coffee right now AND my sister is still busy, HE gets to pay for being the jackass that set me off!
    "Would it make you feel better if we bought you a coffee?" Terry asked, unperturbed, "And perhaps an ice cream for your sister?" He made no move to physically help his brother, who now simply looked like he was ready to potentially make things worse.
    Celi paused her assault on the dumbass at the offer, one hand still tangled in his hair, pulling his head awkwardly to one side, while the other paused in its attempt to hit him in the face again. Her heel however, was still thoroughly digging itself into his foot.
    "Make it a grande coffee, and an ice cream for my sister AND me, and we have a deal" While Celi was no where near the sugar addict that her sister was, sweets were a fondness that both sisters shared and would happily indulge in given the chance. And given the circumstances right now, Celi needed something in her system to keep her alive until they finished unpacking and this was as good a chance if she ever saw it.
    "Deal."
    Terry pointedly didn't bother helping his brother but turned and walked towards the spot where his mother was playing with Joanna and quietly filled her in on the situation. The matron leaned slightly to the side so that she could peek around her oldest son and take a look at the girl in question, seeing John start to detangle himself from her hold. He gave his mother a thumbs up and wiggled his eyebrows and Elaine immediately winced, but grinned at him anyway.
    Christ, he was definitely interested in that poor girl.
    As soon as John's attention left his mother's face, Elaine flashed an apologetic smile to Celi and mouthed "I'm sorry, dear" to the girl, before scrambling to keep her energetic toddler of a daughter from squirming away. Joanna squealed in delight as Terry patted her head, then returned to where John was grinning at Celi.
    "Want a lift to wherever you're headed, sweetheart?" John asked, weirdly good-natured about Celi righteously assaulting him, "Least I can do for a girl that can actually punch."
    As soon as they had agreed to her demands, Celi promptly released her hold on the dumbass with an annoyed huff, turning away from him slightly to absentmindedly pick up her forgotten suitcase before fixing her outfit and hair as the bigger of the two boys went off to talk to who she presumed was their mother about getting her her damn coffee and ice creams.
    She at least, looked like a nice enough woman, quite beautiful for her age in fact with a lovely "homey" vibe. Certainly better than her own mother for sure, and she even had the grace to look apologetic about her stupid son. Though the rosette couldn't make heads or tails of what she had been trying to mouth to her, probably something about how she's sorry he's such an idiot or whatever.
    Speak of that idiot, he had been looking far too satisfied for her liking while she had been trying to maim him and it pissed her the hell off! Wearing that damn, smug ass grin the whole time after she had punched him and nailed him in the gut with her suitcase, like he was impressed and actually happy she was willing to fight back against him or something! What was he, some kind of masochist?!
    God, she hoped not.
    It'd be just her luck that her first day on the island would have her dealing with some weirdo with a fetish. As it was, she was still having to deal with him against her better judgement, but she reminded herself it was only until she could get her compensation.
    At his "kind" offer and praise, Celi had to pinch the bridge of her nose to keep herself from flying off the handle again. "Mon dieu donne moi la force" She muttered under her breath before looking at him, an annoyed glare still present on her face as she kept her tone clipped but polite.
    "No thank you, we're good, and my name is not sweatheart"
    John quirked an eyebrow at her and studied her for a long moment with his pale blue eyes. She sure was a little firecracker, that was for sure, but if he wanted to get anywhere with her, he would need to play his cards right. A corner of his mouth tugged itself into a smirk and he readjusted the cigarette with the motion. "Suit yourself." He said with a shrug, "I suppose you want to lug those suitcases around on your own then, too. Being an independent woman and all."
    Pausing, he turned away from her to take a drag on the cigarette, then blow it away from them.
    "Let me know if you change your mind." He shrugged his well-muscled shoulders nonchalantly, "Maybe I could make it up to you."
    In truth, he wasn't expecting her to allow him that privilege, but he wasn't too worried about it. Even if she blew him off now, if she and her sister were new residents of the island they'd cross paths sometime. And there was a fifty-fifty chance John would see these girls at school. The thing about Rai Island was that eventually, all residents either knew or knew of each other. So unless these two planned on being hermits that never left their new house, they were pretty much guaranteed to run into him. Or one of his family members.
    It'd be fine.
    Turning back to the rosette, he quirked an eyebrow at her. "So... if you don't want me to call you sweetheart, what should I call you?" John grinned wickedly, "Honey? Baby? Or do you have a name you want me to call you?"
    "Can we please just get our coffee and ice cream?" Celi couldn't help growling under her breathe at his "independent woman" comment.
    It was amazing. She had dealt with cocky jocky prep-school "heart throbs", stuck up and overly privileged douchebags, and greasy cigar-loving moguls. But never before had she ever wanted to strangle someone as badly as she did this dumbass.
    Mind you, she knew that a part of this burning hatred of hers was mostly fueled by her sleep-deprivation and stress, and that was in addition to his insult of a "greeting" to her. But still, it took talent to get under her skin the way this dumbass could.
    Celi wasn't a push over by any means, nor was she some shrinking violet, but she hated having to deal with a headache when she clearly saw one in front of her. So normally, she would've just hit him and then bolted with her sister in tow.
    So why was she subjecting herself to this torture by sticking around?
    Aside from the obvious reason that he still owes her her coffee, Celi was downright stubborn when she was trying to figure something out, and she couldn't figure out this dumbass one bit. And it bothered the f*ck outta her.
    This guy, this random ass guy that she just met, got under her skin like no one else could. It had nothing to do with him feeling her up, he wasn't the first dumbass to do that, and unfortunately he probably wouldn't be the last. And it wasn't his annoyingly cocky attitude either. Again, he wasn't the only cocky bastard she'd ever run into, although he did seem to have his own flavor for it.
    No, this guy was just...different somehow. The way he held himself, the way he moved, the way he looked at her with amused interest and of course, the way he just seemed to ooze confidence that came from more than just his good looks. An observation that the rosette absolutely hated to admit herself, but she couldn't deny it as an objective statement even if she wanted too.
    He was different, and it annoyed her, because she couldn't for the life of her figure out just why he got to her so much when no other idiot had! He was annoying and crude and rude and too smug for his own good!
    And also he smoked, which Celi hated, as evident by her quickly covering the lower half of her face with her hand to keep the smell of the smoke at bay. She was even about to tell him to put that shit out so she could breath again, but he beat her to the punch, asking her what he should call her since she hated being called "sweatheart" so much and again, waving the offer of a free ride in her face.
    Celi actually wondered for a bit if it would be a good idea to give him her name given they had just met on the wrong foot and all. But the alternative was him calling her some annoying pet name, so she reluctantly grit her teeth and gave in, albeit as politely as she could muster at the moment since the day was starting to wear on her.
    "My name is Celi, so please keep the pet names to yourself" She pointedly glared at him to let him know how much she hated them. "And all I want is for us to quickly get my compensation so my sister and I can go, so while your offer of a ride is...nice, we'll take a cab thanks" Under better meetings and circumstances, Celi probably wouldn't have minded his offer of a free ride and help with their bags. But she getting to her wits end with this guy and his attitude, so the quicker they got this over with, the better.
    The temptation to call her some ridiculous pet name anyway danced in the back of John mind, but he decided to take mercy on her. "Alright, Celi it is." He nodded and, seeing her grimace and cover her nose and mouth, frowned. Damn it. With a slight huff, he pulled the cigarette from his lips and flicked the hot ash off the end. When it was out, he put the remainder of it behind his ear.
    "Better?"
    "Much better, thank you" Celi breathed a sigh of relief, thankful the little cancer stick was out and no longer hurting her lungs. She wasn't asthmatic, but by god did she hate those things! Cigars too, for that matter. The smoke hurt her lungs, smelled bad, and she wasn't even the one smoking them in the first place!
    So it was with begrudging reluctance that she bumped the dumbass a little higher on her tolerance scale for putting his out. At least he had the decency to snuff it instead of just subjecting her to the smoke when he noticed it really bothered her.
    For that, the rosette supposed she should try to throw the guy a bone, if only a little.
    "So do you have a name? Or would you prefer I stick with 'dumbass'?" Probably not the most polite way of asking who he was, but it would have to do. She was tired, irritable, and in need of caffeine so if he wanted "nice" he should've picked a better day to bug her.
    His surprised laugh came out as kind of a snort, but he shook his head and chuckled anyway. "I dunno... if you're that fond of the nickname, I'd hate to be the one to break your heart with my real name." He hooked his thumbs into the belt loops on his jeans and grinned down at her, "But if your heart's really set on it, you can call me John."
    John cast his glance over to Celi's younger sister at the docks, still talking energetically to everyone who would listen. He watched her for a while - a grand total of two minutes and fifteen seconds - before turning back to Celi. "So... is she gonna be a while?" He jerked his thumb in the pinkette's general direction, "Should we go get her?"
    "John it is then" And "dumbass" on regular occasion, she inwardly thought. Not really thinking just how regular those instances might be in the future, as the urge to lean away was strong as the dumbas- John, she meant John, decided to invade her personal bubble. Laughing good naturedly at her attitude, and doing an annoyingly smooth job of answering her prickly question in return. But she stubbornly held fast to her posture and position, not allowing herself to shrink away from him even though it seemed like he was far too comfortable being close to her and seemed to have no intention of moving until he was good and ready.
    A good two minutes of dead silence from him later though, and she was just about ready to hit him again for just hovering over her without a word. Until he piped up about her sister that is. With a glance to her right, Celi could see Mimi, still happily chatting away with someone. But it wasn't even with her fellow passengers now that she was paying attention, but some random vendors that had gotten swept up in the sea of people around her dear sister and somehow got pulled into the conversation.
    Poor things never stood a chance.
    "Hmm...If we leave her alone, she would probably be here all day" Celi said with a sigh, knowing just how her sister could be sometimes and it was apparent that this was one of those times when she wouldn't stop being a social butterfly until someone forcefully dragged her away. "Just give me a minute"
    With the ease of a practiced veteran, Celi slipped into the crowd of people around her sister, grabbed her by the hood of her jacket, and started pulling her out of the crowd and back to the clearing by John's side. The younger girl not noticing the tug in the slightest as she simply started rolling away from her companions, still happily carrying on with her story, with one hand waving energetically in the air while the other held onto her suitcase.
    Once the younger sister was safely out of the massive sea of people, Celi turned to her, tapped her on the head with a finger, and pointed to the nearby ice cream shop.
    "Sorry to pull you away, but we're getting coffee and ice cream, courtesy of a dumbass. So I thought I'd better grab you so you could have some too"
    Blinking in confusion as she was just in the middle of a crowd of her new friends, Mimi immediately perked up at the mention of ice cream. "Yay! Ice cream!" And without a moments hesitation, whipped around on her skates back towards her crowd of friends.
    "Sorry guys I gotta go! I'll talk to you later though! Bye bye!" With waves all around, the sea of people dispersed, leaving a much emptier pier and a clear path to sweetness.
    John watched in amusement as Celi dragged her little sister - skates and all - over to where he was still waiting patiently. Or as patiently as a hotheaded Wilder was capable or waiting. By this time, Terry had returned and was quietly speaking with John. The two of them watched the girls approach them and Terry grinned at Celi's explanation of their plans.
    "Ready?" The older brother asked, getting straight to the point.
    As if on cue, John tilted his head in a motion for them to follow, then started walking to a little shop along the beach. Upon reaching the shop, John held the door open for the girls and Terry motioned them inside.
    The shop itself was a little cooler inside, with several different kinds of coffee - both hot and cold. There were also several flavors of ice cream listed on menu after menu, as far as the eye could see. The line was reasonably short, as if they'd been here often enough to know when to show up. As the customers placed their orders and the line shuffled along, Celi and Mimi were able to pick out what they wanted.
    As the small group made their way into the ice cream shop, Celi had to once again bump John a little higher up on her tolerance scale as he patiently held the door open for them. It was a small and probably mindless gesture on his part, but Celi grew up with etiquette, so sue her having a fondness for good manners.
    As it was though, she still resented him a bit for his earlier crude treatment of her, and as petty at it was Celi was hard pressed not to let it go until she hand her compensation in hand.
    So with a small nod of gratitude towards him, she took one look at them menu and immediately piped in with her order.
    "One grande, iced hazelnut bianco latte with almond milk and a chocolate mocha raspberry ice cream cone please"
    Mimi hummed and awed to herself a while before pipping in with her chosen treat as well. "I'll take a sweet cream in a cup please!"
    A cute blond girl with a lovely tan behind the counter began diligently scooping up the ice cream orders while the lone male employee in the shop got to work on Celi's latte.
    His short-sleeved uniform was a bit rumpled, as if he either slept in it or hadn't bothered folding it, and his dark brown hair looked like he'd rolled out of bed mere minutes before work. He was average in height and slim, with long dark eyelashes and green eyes. Aside from the dark circles under his eyes and the lack of effort in his appearance, the barista was kind of cute.
    Upon finishing up the iced hazelnut bianco latte with almond milk, he finally registered who the order was for. The rosette waiting for her coffee was damn cute and he was regretting not making himself more presentable before his shift. Nevertheless, he gave her a charming smile and winked at her.
    "For the pretty lady with the nice outfit." He handed over the latte, the name tag on his uniform catching the glint of the light. It read 'Pal'. It looked more like a moniker than an actual name, but he was still leaning over the counter in a rather flirty way. "Let me know if you need anything else."
    Celi just sighed, her shouldering slumping a bit in weariness as she rolled her eyes in distaste at the baristas' sad attempts at flirting. Today just really wasn't her day now was it?
    But, she at least had her coffee now, which made it slightly better.
    Until the barista decided she wasn't being responsive enough to his flirting and decided to go for broke and to be a little more "charming" with her instead, catching the outstretched hand that had been reaching to grab her drink with one of his own as he gave her his best flirty smile.
    "Soooo...you new in town? Cause I'm sure I would've remembered a face as pretty as yours if you weren't" He was trying to smooth by giving her a smoldering look from across the counter as he gently caressed her hand with his thumb. But all he was doing was creeping the f*ck outta Celi as she tried in vain to pull her hand away without causing too much of a scene, a disgusted shiver crawled up her spine every time his thumb grazed her hand.
    "Not interested. Please let go" Celi did not like unknown people touching her in any way shape or form without her permission. This was not ok.
    But either he had selective hearing or he was just an ass, Celi was betting on the latter, because the man persisted in his attempts despite her struggles.
    "Hey, c'mon baby don't be like that. How bout I take you around town after my shift? We can grab some dinner together, my treat"
    "Buster."
    John's voice was sharp, clipped, and the barista immediately let go of Celi's hand when he realized that the larger teen was glaring at him with narrowed eyes. Worse though, was the fact that Terry was also here. And he didn't seem impressed with his flirting attempt either. The two oldest Wilder teens escorting a pair of pretty new girls made the barista frown. He turned sharply to Terry with an accusing glare, "Does your girlfriend know you're out with another girl?"
    Terry didn't so much as flinch. "Patty knows I'm not that kinda guy. You should know better."
    John was far less forgiving. "You shouldn't be flirting with the customers anyway, you little shit."
    The barista, Buster, snapped his attention back to John. "Eat me." He muttered with a forced grin, "All you do is cause trouble anyway, and then we all get stuck cleaning up the mess afterwards." Annoyed, he rung up the order and jerked his thumb to the total.
    John visibly looked like he wanted to drag the little punk over the counter and stuff him into the nearest garbage can (again), but instead reached into his pocket for his money. He plopped it onto the counter with an evil grin. When his hand pulled away it revealed the full amount... in pennies. Buster's face darkened as he glared up at John.
    "...I hate you so much sometimes."
    The hand caressing hers was gone faster than a toupee in a hurricane and Celi could only look on in bewilderment as the two teens seemed to square off against each other in a heated staring match. She had a slight inkling that she was the cause of their little tiff, but so long as she wasn't the main target of some guys flirting attempts, she just shrugged and walked away with her drink finally in hand.
    As the testosterone filled the area as they exchanged words, Celi vaguely wondered just how much history those two had with each other to have that much animosity. They seemed to know each other quite well for them to be that pissed off at each other, perhaps they were old classmates?
    As it was, she didn't really care much aside from as a one time spectator and speculator, but even she had to admit that there must've been some pretty bad blood in there. It was a down right evil to pay for their full order in nothing but pennies after all, and she was sure John had done so with every sinister intension there was.
    Satisfied, John left the barista to count the pile of pennies as he sauntered off to open the door back up for the two sisters they'd just treated. He waited until Celi and Mimi left, then turned to loudly call back over his shoulder, "Sixty-seven, sixty-eight, sixty-nine... See you at school, buddy!"
    The last noise heard before the door swung shut was a shout of frustration as Buster lost count and had to start again.
    Celi looked on with a raised eyebrow from outside of the shop, slightly curious at the events she'd just witnessed but not sure if she wanted to know the full story or not. It's not like she was guaranteed to ever see any of these people again after all, so why should she invest in knowing their tragic backstories? That was more Mimi's thing than hers anyways.
    Still she'd been placated for the most part and they were currently all relaxing under the shade of some palm trees not too far away from the shop, her indulgent caffeinated beverage already almost all gone and her ice cream cone deliciously glistening in the sunlight, waiting in her other hand ready for consumption.
    The larger of the boys, Terry as he had quietly told her in the shop, had been nice enough to offer grabbing her bag for her since her hands were full. So there was no harm in a little small talk with them at this point she supposed. John did "rescue" her from a very uncomfortable situation at the very least, so his place on her tolerance scale was much higher than it had been after his stupid groping stunt and she wasn't nearly as pissed as she had been.
    "Thanks for saving me from your uh...friend?" She paused for a moment, finishing up her drink before chucking it into a nearby trash can. "He had clammy hands and honestly it was a little creepy having him hold my hand for so long"
    A little creepy was an understatement, Celi did not like being touched by people she didn't know, period. So having a persistent guy holding on to her while he tried to whoo her was just plain alarming for her to say the least.
    But, she thought with a calming sigh, it was over now.
    She got her coffee and was feeling a little more human now, they were outside and enjoying the calming sea breeze under the shade of the trees, she had her ice cream that she was more than ready to indulge in, and once that was done they'd finally be headed to their new home.
    So without another thought, Celi dived into her treat, darting her tongue out to give it a quick lick at first to try the taste, before running her tongue slowly along her pink lips with a very satisfied hum as her eyes sparkled with glee.
    This shit tasted damn good! To hell with the creepy barista, she was definitely going back there for another one of these in the near future!
    The chocolatey mocha morsel clung to her taste buds like a rich velvet blanket in winter, and the hints of the sweet but tart raspberry danced across her senses like a lovers fiery kiss. She couldn't help herself but to take one nice long slow lick, one after the other, to thoroughly enjoy her treat as the thick chilly cream melted down her throat. Her eyes closed and her small hums of enjoyment the only company and small talk she needed right now as she carefully and tenderly devoured her ice cream.
