Arcade Room

Arriving at the mall, Ah-Gyul took a quick glance at the large map and headed off to the arcade.
Scanning the array of games, he grinned at Olivia and asked, "So which game? And should we raise the stakes a bit?" Even though he'd lost a huge bet less than a year ago, taking risks hadn't been fully shocked out of his system. He glared at the brightly colored claw game. "We can play anything except that one."
Walking to a coin exchange, Ah-Gyul began feeding bills in for tokens to play while letting Olivia make up her mind.

It wasn’t a hard decision to make, she would choose the first racing game they came across desperately wanting her rematch, however she was rather tempted to drag him off toward the claw game once again just for the fun of it. The mention of raising the stakes stole Olivia’s attention and she abandoned her mission of scanning the arcade for game...instead rounding on Ah-Gyul leaning slightly against the coin machine. “What kind of bet do you have in mind?” She asked fascinated in what could possibly perk Ah-Gyul’s interest.

Ah-Gyul pulled the last of the tokens out of the machine as Olivia rounded on him with even more of a glint in her eye as she asked him what kind of bet he was thinking of. He shrugged nonchalantly in response.
"Winner gets to request something of the loser, or something like that." Ah-Gyul hadn't particularly thought it through, especially since he didn't know what he would require if he won. He still barely knew Olivia and didn't expect she could offer him anything he wanted.
So of course the challenge would be to prevent himself from needing to owe her something, at least in the mechanics of his mind.
He leaned his face in towards the Australian girl and smirked. "Do you want to try again at racing?"

There weren’t many things that Olivia could think of requesting from Ah-Gyul, not that it mattered win or lose she just enjoyed spending time with him. She did want to win, just for the simple fact that she hated to be on the losing end of things, something her mother constantly pointed out as very unladylike. Who did she need to be a lady for anyways? To her men were not to be trusted...in her experience they would spin their believable web of lies in order to get what they wanted, not caring how their action’s affected anyone else. Ah-Gyul…he was different. He had nothing to gain from her, nothing at all. Yet that day she was brought to tears from that frightening phone call… He offered to his help and cleared her mind, thus the day lead to that simple stuffed bear. A memento she couldn’t bring herself to leave behind.


Ah yes, that deceiving racing game that tricked her out of victory last time. She wondered if they actually had one in this arcade, or anything close to it. “If you’re up for the challenge, like I said I won’t go easy on you this time.” She teased, not waiting for an answer Olivia reached capturing his hand while in her own, tugging him along in her search. It only took a few moments to find a game similar to the last one, although it looked quite a few years older. Releasing his hand Olivia plopped down into the seat on the left adjusting it to fit her size.

Olivia found a racing game a bit older than what she had lost to Ah-Gyul on before, quickly settling herself into the seat. Ah-Gyul swung down into the opposing seat.
He slipped in the coins required to play and chose his car and their map from the menu. Unfortunately, he noted he would not have the options of upgrades in the game, but even so....He was sure he could pull off another win.
"Somehow I don't think you were going easy the last time," Ah-Gyul grinned at Olivia." He leaned back and revved the virtual engine.

“I guess we will find out...” Olivia sent a wink Ah-Gyul’s way before turning her attention to the screen in front of her. Things were already looking bad for her, since it took her a few moments to figure out the mechanics of the game, no obvious select button in sight. Shaking her head, a smirk plastered on her lips as Ah-Gyul started revving up his engine, Olivia finally figured it out selecting her choice of a sporty yellow car. Leaning back into the seat the screen automatically took them to their choice in locations. Clenching her fingers around the steering wheel she watched alert as the numbers started flashing across the screen.

3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . GO!!!

As the word “Go” flashed across the screen, Olivia immediately pressed the gas pedal to the floor. This older version racing game was much harder to control; the slightest movement of the steering wheel would cause the car to suddenly jerk in the direction the wheel was turning. Adapting to the games sensitivity she managed to stay neck in neck with Ah-Gyul, although neither of them were able to pull ahead of the car currently in first. Not that it mattered; she just needed to come in ahead of him to win their little wager. Be it luck, a computer glitch, or just pure talent as Olivia took the corner she was able to pull slightly ahead of her opponent a victorious grin spreading across her lips... In the distance there clearly sat the finish line.

There sat the finish line....and Ah-Gyul's first defeat in some time. He had screwed up a turn, and there was no way Ah-Gyul could be facing anything but defeat at that point. He grimaced and pulled past the finish milliseconds after Olivia's car.

Ah-Gyul slid out of his seat and leaned against its back, checking his watch briefly. "So...you won." The boy much preferred admitting someone else's win over his own losses. He smirked as he adjusted his bag over his shoulder. "I'll let you decide your reward overnight--but I have to get back since I have some things to do tonight." Ah-Gyul had some figures he needed to work out that he'd forgotten about...He was going to have to submit them as soon as possible.

He ran with Olivia back to the dorms, each of them attempting futilely to shield themselves from the surprising downpour. Ah-Gyul smirked at Olivia's soaked form, just as he guessed she must have been laughing at his drenched look. Bidding his acquaintance good night at the entrance of her dormitory, he entered the boys' dorm and got down to business.
