AU MVB High School

The intimidating teen simply hummed in response to her observation, unable and unwilling to take his eyes off of her. He simply nodded in response and cleared his throat. Motioning towards her outfit, he asked, "Are you going to be able to play in that?"

Her tone seemed to snap him out of it.

"Well, how am I to know what you do in your free time? You just got here." He asked with a raised brow, "Wear whatever you want." He shrugged, a bit exasperated that she snapped at him over a simple question. He'd only asked it out of concern. But no matter.

The gym teacher had arrived and the first thing on the agenda was to stretch, run laps, and do some warmups. John, Buster, and several of the other students were definitely up to burn off some energy, and set a brutal pace for the rest of the class. When the last student finished, the dodgeball teams were about to be decided upon.

Of course Buster had checked Celi out at first. Considering what she was wearing and how good she looked in it, who wouldn't? He was a healthy, horny teenage boy after all, and Celi was quite a looker. What a shame that there was only one of her. He'd love it if she had a cute friend.

But the rosette seemed to be getting upset with so many eyes on her. So with a good deal of reluctance, he dutifully did his best not to look at her at all. At least until the dodgeball game. He may be a hornball and sexual deviant but he wasn't an asshole. His mom raised him to be better than that. His eyes darted over to John.

Well, his aunt succeeded in most of her boys not being assholes.

When warm ups started he and John had their usual sporty rivalry and made most of the class look seriously out of shape, with a few exceptions of course. John may be a bit stronger than him, but he was faster and more limber. Nevertheless, the two of them made a great team most of the time.

But when it came time to pick teams, Celi stood behind John. Of course, John and Terry weren't allowed to be on the same team during gym class, so there was really only one choice for him. Buster walked over to Terry and high-fived him. "You look like you could use some company." The larger Wilder smiled in appreciation as the blue haired boy stood at his side.

John looked a bit disappointed that Buster had decided to team up with Terry this time. Usually it took both of them to take down his older brother in any competitive sport. Going up against Terry was bad enough with his ridiculous strength and skills, but having someone as dexterous as Buster on the same team was kind of unfair.

But complaining to the teacher would get him nowhere.

The one good thing he noticed was that Celi was on his team. He had no idea if she was any good or not, but if she still had her panties in a twist then she'd probably wail on their opponents. He was still feeling a little irked, but that was fine. He could just take it out on his shitty classmates.

John stared down the opposing team with a wicked grin on his face.

This was going to be fun.

Celi watched with mild impatience as the teacher went over the rules irritatingly slow, a single ball in his hand that he refused to dish out until he'd read the whole check list from front to back.

She had learned through the relieved whispers of her teammates nearby, that they used to just have a whole volley of balls in the middle of the court, and everyone would make a mad dash for them at the whistle.

But too much bodily harm from the Wilder crew apparently switched that up real fast, so now they played with a single ball granted by a coin flip.

After having to listen to a five-page essay over the "official" rules of dodgeball that is...

Meaning no tackling, no shoulder ramming, no headbutting, no sitting on, no ganging up on and chasing after one person, no trapping in a player in corner, no throwing a person into a basketball hoop, no running up walls or bleachers, no hiding behind teammates for longer than 5 seconds, and no leaving the tagged area until the game was over.

The rosette internally growled to herself at the obviously added and rather ridiculous rule listings, she simply wanted to hurry up and vent her frustration on her unsuspecting classmates with excessive pelting via a rubber ball!

Couldn't this teacher hurry it up a little?!

Glancing over to the only other person on her team that she knew, Celi could see the Wilder's foot bouncing off the floor impatiently. If the wicked and borderline sadistic grin on John's face was anything to go by, he was feeling just as eager as she was to get things started.  

But this wait was absolutely maddening!

Finally, finally the teacher flipped the coin into the air, pointing to her and John's side as "tails", while Terry and Buster's team were "heads". She waited with baited breath as it fell back into the teachers hand and for him to call it.

Please by tails, please be tails!

"HEADS"

Fuuuuuuck...

It didn't matter to John that their opponents were going first. No, what bothered him is that the student who was handed the ball immediately passed it to Buster. He scrambled to protect his face immediately, hissing, "Shit!"

But that emerald gaze hadn't been pointed at him.

No, as his arm drew back, his eyes focused on Celi. The boy flipped forward a few times and let loose with the kinetic force he'd built up, the ball whizzing past her and nailed on of her team mates in the face at an angle, bouncing off him and clocking three other players like a pinball.

Of course John wasn't worried about Buster or Terry targeting Celi. Neither or them would ever consider hurting a girl for any reason. But that didn't mean their teammates held those same morals.

As John easily caught the dodgeball, a collective shriek of terror echoed around the gym. The intimidating boy let loose the ball on his target - the boy that had targeted Celi - and launched the ball at him so hard that once it hit its mark, the guy went flying backwards. John knew that actually landing a hit on Buster was practically impossible even on the best days, and trying to hit Terry would result in his older brother catching the ball with one hand, squeezing it, and flattening it. 

He'd certainly done it before.

Once the ball bounced off the kid, Terry picked it up. Immediately, several teens on both sides of the gym hit the floor, covering their heads in fear. His eyes narrowed dangerously as he scanned the targets, then locked onto the unlucky sod. The dark, towering Wilder turned towards the boy, his baseball cap and thick dark hair obscuring his features.

One step, two.

An eerie silence filled the gym as Terry made his way toward his target slowly, menacingly. Each step made the boy shrink further into himself, his stomach tying itself into knots over and over as one of the most infamous tough guys on the island stalked towards him. By the time the oldest Wilder reached him the boy was in the fetal position, begging for mercy.

Terry loomed over him, unmoving, a terrifying force of nature.

And then his gently tossed the ball in an arc as if he were playing catch with his baby sister. It bounced harmlessly off the now-crying kid's head and rolled away.
