Day 3 Park

Carson's face had become beet red as he was tackled to the ground by his friend. He winced once as he landed, and again as Yui plopped on his lap. "Nii-chan, huh?" Carson's chest heaved as he caught his breath and recovered from the immediate shock. "Long... time? We saw... each other in class...." He hugged her back lightly, but let go quickly and otherwise sat there--he couldn't do much with the girl still on his lap.

Mina walked through the park, grimacing at all the bugs and dirt. She HATED nature, but unfortunately she had to deal with it. Why couldn't the entire world be made up of concrete and wood? She would much rather be back home in her expensive house than here. She didn't even like animals unless they were cats. She couldn't believe Chepe had moved to this dirt clod in the middle of the ocean. Even less did she like the fact that she'd had to follow him here in order to get him to talk to her. She walked delicately through the grass, trying not to get dirt on her expensive shoes, her two kittens meowing in the cloth carrier on her shoulder. She stopped short, seeing a small group of people. Surely he would see that she was right and come home with her to Valley, where he belonged.

Gadiel looked up and saw a blonde girl wearing expensive clothes. He's never seen her before. "Hi." he said. "You new around here?"

Mina looked down her nose at the boy who had just spoken to her. "How dare you even say hello to me." she sneered. "You're nothing but a long haired hippie." she snorted with laughter, walking past, blowing off his greeting. "Have fun playing with your kids." she said, snottily. quickly passing them by, not answering the boy's question.

Carson stared at the girl as she strode past. He supposed she had been having a terrible day or something--there had been days in the hospital he'd felt like snapping at the nurses like that, even though they were only being friendly... That must have been it. She wasn't looking back, but Carson offered her a smile anyways. "I hope her day goes better, or something," Carson commented in his soft voice. He stretched his arms back and pressed his palms to the ground. "Um.....are you planning on sitting here awhile Yui?" he asked, cheeks going pinkish again.

"what a big meanie!!" Yui said as she glared at the woman. "That's it! keep running you over grown succubus!!" She yelled at her back and then she stuck out her tongue at the woman. She turned her attention to Carson when she heard his voice, her tongue still hanging out in the wind. She looked at him confused and then looked down and saw where she was sitting. Her face turned bright red as she hopped off of him as fast as she could. "Sorry!!" She said as she bowed to him apologetically.

Mina's face grew red, turning she stared Yui down, "Oooh big words for the little RAT, huh? I bet you buy all your clothing from a thrift store don't you? HAH!" she said, in a controlled, even tone. Her eyes had an angry shine as she turned and continued on, disappearing around a corner. Mina couldn't believe how horrible this place was. Again she wondered how Chepe could possibly want to live here. She rested her hand on the cat carrier, and she clutched her plastic bag with Chepe's gift in the other hand.

"r...rat?" Yui said to herself and then she looked down at herself sadly. "I'm not that short...am i?" She said but she mumbled the last part to herself. A pout found its place on her mouth. she let out a sigh and sadly kicked the dirt. The kick caused her to loose balance as she collapsed to the ground again. "Oww..."

Gadiel put his arms around Yui and hugged her. "Don't worry." he said, "You're fine the way you are....You're not that short." He smiled at her. "That girl just has a swollen head."

Yui looked up at Gadiel and then smiled at him. "your right!" She said happily with slightly pink cheeks. "I'm not short! just everyone else is too tall!" She said and then she laughed a little at herself. She turned around and hugged Gadiel back and thanked him.

Gadiel gave Yui an extra little squeeze with his arms. "That's right. Everyone else is too tall. I definitely am." he grinned. "Don't worry about it Yui. I'll always be here to protect you."

Carson stood and brushed himself off... He wasn't needed here, was he? He'd remained silent throughout the sour exchange. Carson's mouth opened, but nothing came out. If the girl was having a bad day, insulting her would only make things worse. Short huh? I'm barely taller than her, and Gadiel kneeled to talk to me. Not much good for the self-confidence to say the least. "Uhm..." He didn't know what to say, but he looked towards the direction the bad-day girl had gone thoughtfully.

Gadiel looked up at Carson from the ground. "You look lost in thought." she said smiling. "That girl didn't rub you the wrong way, I hope."

"Not at all," Carson said."I just hope she feels better soon. I can relate," he added good-naturedly, smiling and shrugging. Girl's like that, Carson knew his sister hated them, calling them entitled and stuck-up, but Carson was inclined to think the better of people. Something had to have been going on.
The hazel-eyed boy wondered briefly if she might also become his friend.

Yui looked over at Carson, she felt a little worried all of a sudden so she got out of Gadiel's arms and walked over to Carson. "Carson...are you okay?" She asked him with a curios stare. "You seem very... distant..." She said as she got closer and put her hand on his forehead. "Do you have a fever?" She asked as she tried to get his tempature.

Carson flushed a little when Yui put her hand to his forehead. Maybe he was getting a bit of a fever. But that wasn't why he felt distant. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine," he replied, smiling to relieve her worries. If it got too bad, he always had his medicine anyway. "I feel good," he continued, gently pushing her hand away. "But, well, it's getting a bit late, huh?"

Mina left the park and headed off campus toward the harbor. She hoped there would be fewer bugs out that way.

Yui looked up at the sky shocked by how late it was already. The shy had already started to change colors and the sun was low in the sky. She looked back over at Carson and smiled sweetly. "It was nice to see you again Carson-san, but i must go." She said with a sweet smile spread across her face. Then she turned to Gadiel and a giant smile played its way on her face. "Thank you for taking me around the part today! it was super fun!" She said happily as she bowed to him. "I should go before it gets dark... bye bye!!" She said as she started to run back towards the girls dorms. She stopped a little ways off and yelled back to the two boys. "Oh by the way! im sorry i tripped and then poked your shoe!" SHe said and then she started to run again. Only to trip over her own legs.

Carson smiled and chuckled at Yui's sweet goodbye and clumsiness even though his first thought was of concern for her well-being, and excused himself from Gadiel. He did truly need to get home, his sister's worry only would increase with the darkness, but he was also desperate to get away from what was increasingly feeling like pity from the well-meaning redhead. Pity and sentiments like it were exactly what Carson wanted so much to become independent of.

Carson's short legs delivered him home soon enough.

Gadiel laughed. "You don't think I'm going to let you walk home yourself, do you?" he asked, jogging up to her, and helping her stand. "When we didn't even let Lorilynn go home alone? The difference is...you'll know I'm with you." He smiled at her. Gadiel said goodbye to Carson and continued on his way with Yui, fully intending to see her straight to her door.

Yui pouted a little feeling a little bit like he was babying her. "I'm sure i could of made it..." She said in a low voice. Her face was slightly pink because of embarrassment of her little fall earlier. "nii-chan... thank you..." She said in a low voice. For some reason she was feeling really shy.

Gadiel walked beside Yui. "It's no problem." he smiled. "I want to make sure you make it back to your dorm safely. You're too sweet of a girl for me to not worry about you." Gadiel put his hand gently on her shoulder. Ready to get yourself back toy your dorm?"

Yui's face turned scarlet when Gadiel touched her. She looked at him completely speechless for a minute. All she could do to reply to his question was nod her head shyly. SHe looked down at her feet hoping he wouldn't notice her blush.

Gadiel grinned. "so where is your dorm then? I'm going to go to the door with you." he said, looking at her. "Friends will do that."

Yui looked up at Gadiel and smiled at him. "I live in room G02 in the girls dormitory." She smiled and then she grabbed Gadiel's hand and started to walk down the park path. "This way!" She said happily as she started to lead him towards where her dorm was.
